In All Things Love began in 2013 as a Facebook group of “mostly Moravians” discussing LGBTQ+ issues, same-sex marriage, and larger issues of Biblical interpretation. One thing that became clear was that while there has been much effort at discussion in the Northern and Southern provinces about these issues, there has been very little material published, especially written by Moravians.
All opinions here are those of the individual writers. The Provincial Elders Conference has been carefully informed of the development of these articles, but aside from the official actions shared here, the individual articles have not been approved by or endorsed by either the PEC or by the Synod.
In early 2021, a small working group began to recruit articles from various viewpoints that would specifically capture the unique Moravian perspective. This website is the initial result. We continue to accept responsible articles from all perspectives. Submissions must abide by the Moravian Covenant for Christian Living and Resolution 13 of the 2018 Synod of the Southern Province.
Sadly, one of the first things that we discovered was that this issue was so divisive in congregations that most pastors currently serving under call felt that they could not publicly state their personal views, fearing that it might create a rift in their congregation. Our hope is that we will be able to model continued honest discussion in a way that may help congregations learn to navigate this (and other) difficult issues.
Comenius Foundation
In January, 2022 the board of Comenius Foundation voted to adopt this website as a part of its overall communications ministry. This gives us a better avenue for funding, as donations can now be tax-deductible. Our hope is to expand the focus and provide an outlet modeling respectful discussion of difficult issues.
Comenius Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses media and the internet to promote faith, learning and love.
